Meet your New Title Sponsor!

... as Small Cog Coffee is currently our ONLY sponsor! But until we get that million dollar sponsor, Small Cog Coffee gets prime billing on the Soulsport Velo jersey to-be.

Read all about it and order up. A couple crank calls for deliveries to fabricated locations should keep our friend Roger out on his bike and in tip-top shape. Go to the website for that number: Small Cog Coffee!

Race 4 & Soulsport at USGP

Great weekend of racing, everyone. It was great to hear the race reports and a few of those glory-moments should be posted here on the blog, etched into stone and our team consciousness forever.

Just found a pic online of the moment when my elastic was popping as Will pulled away from me at the barriers on Lap 2 and so I was forced to sit and suck wheel the rest of the race. The second pic is me sucking that wheel right to the final corner when, unfortunately, I wasn't able to overcome that wheel and so had to settle for third. But I got to kiss the podium girls and make them cry like Georgie of Porgie.

Team ride tonight, yay! Team beers tonight, yay! Team meeting tonight, yuk! Business is business, and never the twain shall meet.

The string goes bing!

Gritting ones teeth doesn't really help his or her sprint.

Who else has pics? Serve em up!

Seattle CX #3

Hey y'all, great weekend of racing and thanks to everyone for coming out, pitching in, cheering us on. Perfect weather for cyclocross (I don't care what they say about cold and rain being CX weather) and even better for a BBQ. I've got some pretty good 3D shots that are posted on my smugmug page: Seattle CX 3 3D pics! Yes, you need a viewer to take advantage of the 3D aspect and I'm working on that: I've got some cheapish viewers in the mail and would like you all to have a pair. For only $14.95....

Hey, great riding everyone. You rode your little hearts out. For what? Not for any stinkin sponsor... you did it for love of sport, love of pain, love of glory!

Now that the team is ours again, as it should be, and out of the hands of any corporate manipulation, as it shouldn't be, we have some good hard thinkin to do... its gunna hurt. No pain no brain.

Unless we can come up with something quick, and we do have at least one option, then we probably won't be sporting matching kits. However, another option is instead of matching skinsuits we could get matching ties: power red! Although Stephen seems partial to a clashing rep pattern. Or we could do the Cutters thing: t-shirts and a sharpie! But give me the weekend to try and get Ibex onboard: wool is the new cotton.

Things to hurt your brain about:

Cyclocross only, or road race too? We've got a growing little contingent of roadie wannabies and a pretty good group of old timers who could pass along some tips of the trade. Road season is a different animal but we could make it funner. I would like to encourage everyone to keep the cross spirit alive in the road season by picking a handfull of races to target as a squad:

--3 mason lake races in march? if they don't interfere with good skiing.
--chilly hilly as a fun team ride?
--PRI race series every tuesday throughout the season (and/or Seward Park)
--and one or three stage races: Wenatchee, Walla Walla and Enumclaw!

But first, we need to get crackalackin on getting any sponsors we might want to grace our jerseys and the jersey order should be in by December 1st! Next week we'll talk more about this but in the meantime, look around you and think about any businesses that might benefit from sponsoring a bunch of highlife misfits on bikes.

Cycling team name: Soulsport Velo
Overall program name: Soulsport Endurance (incl skiing, junior devel, etc)
Team mascot: The Stallion
Team cheer: Balls out! (ask Tim about that one, or Kian)
Team colors: all primaries

Happy racing this weekend in Steilacoom! Stallion pride! Go balls out!

CX #2 Results and CX #3 Pending: Race & BBQ!

More good times were had at the 2nd Seattle Cyclocross Series race of the season with 6-Veloce Velo racers lining up at their respective starts. All finished despite a couple mechanicals (fortunately/unfortunately all had by Jeff -- good to get them all out of the way at once).

As for this weekends race we are shooting for a HUGE Veloce Velo turn out: ALL HANDS! Its time for all those newbies to make their 2008 CX debut, and its time for all those V2 "roadies" to make the trip out to a race to cheer us on (and give it a try? You can borrow my bike!). I have a dream: "Go Veloce!" to be shouted from every corner of the course at every race on the day! How better to get the name out into the sport? Oh yeah, jerseys are good... but we're working on that, and hopefully they'll be in your grubby little hands soon.

This just out: there is a work party at S. Seatac - Sat. Oct. 18th Come and help out with making the course as good as it can be. Bring a rake, bring clippers and other trail work tools and come out and help clean up Seatac.

When: Satuday, October 18 - 9am
Where: S. Seatac Infield

I'm thinking about taking out the RV on Saturday and camping on the course over night. We are trying to hookup a beer sponsor for the race so maybe that could entice you? Drop a line.

Weekend: Saturday Shop Ride & Sunday Race

Don't forget to check out the calendar below for the latest happenings:

David is leading a team ride out of the shop on Saturday and the details are listed on the link below.

Sunday is Race #2 of the Seattle Cyclocross Series: be there, and bring a support crew to hang out and cheer on the V2 squad! It should be a great turn out and the weather might be unseasonal again. Let's hope.
